A Christ-Centered Church!

Organized as the First African Baptist Church in August 8, 1805 Peoples Baptist Church is uniquely poised to accomplish greater things for the Kingdom of God than at any other period in its long history.

The First African Baptist Church was organized On August 8, 1805 with twenty members. The newly organized Church proceeded to erect its house of worship. The three-story building called the African Meeting House was dedicated December 6, 1806. Through the outstanding ministry of Dr. Owens (1936 to 1979) Peoples Baptist Church became known nationally as a leader among black churches. In October 31, 1980, the Church installed Pastor, the Reverend Wesley A. Roberts as the pastor of Peoples Baptist Church.
